For example, the No. 2 fast-food state, New York, is said to have 92.3 fast food restaurants per 100,000. The rate of restaurants per capita might be lower than Hawaii’s, but New York has far more restaurants, at 17,906.

Similarly, the most populous state in the U.S., California, has a population of 39.5 million and 82.3 fast food restaurants per 100,000 people. These numbers translate to a whopping 32,508.5 fast food locations in The Golden State.
